The new tool design to be more intuitive than sharing third-party paid usernames via Tweet and involves embedding the link directly into your Twitter profile.
This feature will allow Twitter influencers to earn money from anywhere in the world without any geographic restrictions.
Twitter has partnered with Strike, a platform built on the Bitcoin Lightning Network. To enable instant international payments at no cost.
Twitter has added a small money icon that, when turned on, will appear on the creator’s profile. Informing others that bitcoin tips are accepted.
The tipping tool was first introduced as an exclusive feature for select users in May 2021 and was later introduced for more users on September 23, 2021.
How to Use Twitter’s New Feature Bitcoin Tipping
Sending suggestions via Twitter is very easy – all you have to do is follow a few simple steps. Here’s how you can send a bitcoin tip via Twitter:
- Download and Sign-up on Strike App. The app is available for download for Android, iOS as well as browser extensions.
- Deposit the bitcoins you wish to send to anyone in your non-custodial strike wallet as a Twitter tip. Non-custodial wallets allow users to own and keep their private keys while having complete control over their funds. The keys protected in encrypted storage.
- Find your way back to Twitter and go to the profile of anyone you want to send a cryptocurrency tip to and tap on the money icon – indicating that the account holder is accepting bitcoin tips.
- Click Next and add a short message to accompany your tip, if you wish. You can also proceed without adding any message.
- Now, select the open wallet option and you will find yourself redirected to your non-custodial wallet where you first deposited your bitcoin tip.
- Click on Confirm Payment – and just like that, the fund-loaded bitcoin tip instantly transferred to another wallet.
The feature rolled out for iOS users first and will gradually roll out to Android users as well. For now, the Strike app functionality is currently available in El Salvador as well as most regions in the US.
