How to Port Your Existing Mobile Number to Jio Number? With 4G VoLTE connectivity across the country, Reliance Jio has already emerged as one of the largest telecom operators in India.

Jio is a telecommunications service provider. Its ecosystem includes broadband networks, applications, smart devices, etc. After launching in 2016.

The operator sells competitive prepaid and postpaid plans to attract customers. It offers benefits including Disney + Hotstar VIP access and complimentary membership to Jio apps.

Additionally, Jio offers benefits such as packs for in-flight connectivity and longer validity packs for prepaid customers.

Jio allows you to port your mobile number through your prepaid and postpaid services and both online and offline.

You must keep your original address and identity proof. The proof can be your driving license or any other valid address and identity document.

In case of intra-circle port, the mobile number portability (MNP) process takes up to 48 hours.

However, if you are changing your telecom circle, it may take up to four days. The porting process is expected to take 15 days for customers in Jammu and Kashmir, Assam, and North East India.

How to Port Your Existing Mobile Number to Jio online

Like other operators, Jio allows you to make delivery of your new SIM card online if you do not want to go out and store.

  1. Visit the Jio website and enter your full name and 10-digit mobile number.
  2. After that, click on the Generate OTP button. This will send a six-digit one-time password (OTP) to your mobile number in the form of a text message.
  3. You need to enter the number and validate the OTP by clicking on the Validate OTP button.
  4. After that, the site will take you to a screen where you’ll be asked to provide your address details.
  5. You’ll now see a Confirm button that you need to click to submit your SIM delivery request.

A Jio executive will call you to make an appointment for the delivery of a new SIM. You need to ask the MNP facility on a call and generate a specific porting code (UPC) from your mobile phone by sending an SMS message.

Type “port” after your 10-digit mobile number and send it to 1900. The code you will get in response will be valid for only four days (30 days in the case of Jammu and Kashmir).

Port Number Using MyJio app

If you do not want to use the Jio website and the MyJio app is already installed on your phone, you can also book with the delivery app of the new SIM.

  1. Go to the MyJio app and then click on Not a Jio user? 
  2. You’ll now see a pop-up with an option Port-in to Jio. Click on that option.
  3. The app will now bring a form that will ask you to enter your full name and 10-digit mobile number.
  4. Once you have entered the name and mobile number, click on the Generate OTP button.
  5. A form will now appear asking for your delivery location details, including your locality, pin code, and house number.
  6. Click on the Confirm button after you’ve entered the location details.

Now, you will get a call from a Jio executive from which you can ask your address to give a new SIM. You have to ask them for an MNP facility and specify whether you need Jio prepaid or postpaid connection.

Port Number to Jio offline

If you do not want to proceed with the online steps or use the MyJio app, you can also port your mobile number to Jio offline.

  1. Generate UPC by sending an SMS message “Port” followed by your mobile number to 1900. You’ll get an SMS message from 1901 with the UPC code and its expiry date.
  2. Now, visit your nearest Jio Store or Jio Retailer with the UPC code and your address and identity proof.
