But what if you can build your own Alexa skills? You can thanks to a feature called Alexa Blueprint.

You can use the template to create your own stories and games or give individual answers to specific questions. No coding, no major tech skills, and no robotics degree necessary. How to create your own Alexa skills with BluePrints.

A skill call can be anything and answers prompt for quiz games. If you build your own and your family’s love skills, you can share it with others or publish it for anyone to use.

After perfecting your custom skills, you have the option to limit them to just your home, so that you and your family can access them, or you can share them with the world.

Amazon now allows you to share your skills with some people or publish them in the US Alexa Skills Store for anyone to use.

How to create your own Alexa skills with BluePrints

1. Log in to Blueprints

How to create your own Alexa skills? Starts by visiting blueprints.amazon.com. Once you’re there, click on Sign in at the top of the screen. You’ll then have to log in with your Amazon account details.

2. Choose your template

Start by choosing a template. Think of Alexa blueprints as a collection of templates.

There are dozens of options in various categories such as Greetings and Occasion, Organization and Business, Fun and Games, Learning and Knowledge, At Home, and Storyteller.

You can work on quiz games, fairy tales, workout routines, family corps charts, greeting cards, or adapt Alexa’s responses to your questions.

3. Read the blueprint’s details

After finding the Alexa blueprint template that surprises your fans, click on it. Doing so opens up the details of the template including the steps you go through to build the skill.

After that, Confirm that you want to start the blueprint-creation process by clicking on the Make Your Own link near the top of the blueprint description.

4. Populate the Blueprint’s fields

The next screen you see after clicking Make Your Own (or Pick a Theme) has several form fields. All of these are already filled with content, but you can remove any of them and fill in other details to optimize the content.

After filling fields or leaving them, use the blue next button in the top-right corner to progress to the next step.

5. Name your skill

Choosing a name for your skill is one of the final steps. Choosing one may seem too straightforward, but you should keep in mind Alexa’s limitations.

6. Watch for the skill readiness notification message

It only takes a few minutes until your new Alexa skill is ready to go. Look for the notification message indicating the skill is available, and ready to use.

Once you have it possible to use the skill on any Alexa-enabled device, which is linked to your Amazon account.

You can also go to the skills you build at the top of the screen. It lists all skills created with blueprints. If you go under the description, and it states that your skill is ready for use and editing, you can go ahead and launch the skill.

7. Launch the skill

You can start a conversation with the skill by using the voice command “Alexa, Open [skill name]”.

After triggering the skill, you can make sure that it works as expected. If it does not, you can make changes in the skills section.

8. Share or publish your skill

Once you test your skills, and you know that it works the way you want, you can share it with friends or family members.

You can share your skills via email, Facebook, Twitter, or Pinterest, or you can get a link to share. To do this, just go under Skills, you created> Details> Share with others.

You can even publish your skill to the Alexa Skills Store for Alexa users in the U.S. to find, use, and review. People can give your skill up to a 5-star rating, just like any other skill in the store.

9. Delete a skill

You can delete a skill to remove it from your account. You can also remove the skills you publish from the Alexa Skill Store by selecting Remove from Store under the menu options.
